The goal for each Femmes Night Commander event is to have fun, bring your quirkiest and most creative decks, and to try and get the MOST ACHIEVEMENT POINTS in your pod without the prying gaze of men asking if your boyfriend built your deck.
This is the perfect event for anyone who feels uncomfortable in a room full of men, and wants to have fun playing magic without being the only girlie in a room. Owl Central Games is inclusive of all gender presentation and identities, but this event is to hold space for femme presenting people to feel comfortable in a hobby that often seeks to exclude them.
Here are the achievement point for July!
+2 Challenge Mode: You cannot search your library
+1 Beach Episode: Play a card with water, sun, or sand in the art
+1 Did I Write the Song of the Summer?: Play a card with music/singing in the art or name
+1 Influencer: Become the Monarch
+1 Fireworks: Have 4 spells on the stack at the same time
+1 Fourth of July: Play a creature with a power or toughness of 4
+1 Picnic Lunch: Create a food token
-1 Removing 4 or more lands from opponents’ battlefields during the game
-1 Repeating an loop 5+ times (infinite and indeterminate both count)
-1 Killing everyone in the same turn
-1 Killing a player before the 5th turn cycle
-1 Taking more than 2 extra consecutive turns*
Challenge Mode must be declared at the start of the game, and cannot be turned off at any point.
*All achievements but extra turns only apply once.
Owl Central event staff will pod all of the registered players and hand out the month’s achievement point slips. When your pod is finished, whoever racked up the most achievement points in their pod wins a Booster Pack ($7.99 or less) of their choice (tie breakers go to the player knocked out last)!
Prizing:
Every player will receive $10 in store credit and two entries into the monthly raffle just for playing. At the end of the game, players are encouraged to use the back of the achievement point slip to vote for the player who was the best sport or who embodies the commander spirit the best, and the winner of that vote will earn an additional entry into the monthly raffle.
On the first Sunday of every calendar month, we’ll be pulling our raffle winners for the previous month. Each month will include a Play Booster Box of a Standard set, and will include more prizes the more players participate during that month!
