Valentine’s Day is coming up, and whether you plan to stay at home and relax or go out for a night on the town, there is a board game for you. I am so excited to share some really cool games that are great for a range of players, so you can choose to play a game by yourself to relax or play with friends for a double date night*.

If you are a fan of the video game, you know that farming might be advertised as the main objective of the game, but it’s actually to marry the person of your dreams in Stardew Valley, so what better activity is there than the board game version!
In this 1-4 player board game (you heard right, it can just be you and Abigail all night) you fight to get rid of the evil Joja Corporation, working together with your (real life) friends to fish, farm, and make relationships that propel you towards success. You visit familiar places to get the resources needed to achieve your Grandpa’s goals and keep the season deck from impacting your plans.
I have been on my soap box about Everdell time and time again, but in Everdell Duo you unlock a cooperative mode to stop this future classic from ruining your relationship! Everdell Duo is perfect for a cozy date night in, and each round is limited by the day and night action resources, so optimizing your turn won’t distract you from talking with your partner. Try this game out if you love Everdell but want to play something with a little less set up.
Even the name is perfectly on theme for a date night, try out Wine Cellar to become a Sommelier and build the best Wine Cellar for your client. The aesthetics of this game might be cute, but the competition is cut throat. You will collect bottles over the course of 8 rounds to create the perfect tasting experience and come out as the best Sommelier once and for all (or until you play this board game again).
The best part about Wine Cellar is that it is compact and only takes 20 minutes to play, making it perfect to take on a trip, or bring with you to a local game store to get out of the house!
If you or your partner are big movie buffs, it’s time to try Cast List. This game (with a really cute design) is the best way to flaunt who knows actors best, and it’s perfect to play on a double date because you play on teams!
Cast List moves very quickly. You read off movies an actor played in and your opponent has to guess the actor, but their team mate can’t talk at all. When their time is up you read another movie and their team mate guesses, using the clues they left them and the new movie. Every time the team mate switches, you get less points though, so be careful!
Landmarks is the perfect game for those couples in your life that finish each other’s sentences! Play as a group with friends or one on one, but the goal is the same– to escape the island with treasure.
Landmarks is fully cooperative, no one is trying to win more or start a duel. You all have the shared goal of leaving without dehydration or curses. One person plays as the guide and lays out tiles with hints, and everyone else has to choose the path the guide sets out for them to get to treasure, water, or the cure to the curse. Just watch out– the wrong path could cause DEATH!
