This past Saturday was our Lorcana Winterspell Set Championship. We had a great showing, with many of our local regulars and the area’s top talent gathering together at the Owl Central Game Center for their shot at our scaling prize pool, exclusive Top 8 promos, and of course, the highly sought after Set Championship playmat. In total, 17 players set off to compete for the many prizes on offer.
Players settled into the first half of the tournament, five rounds of Swiss, where Patrick Scharff settled into a rhythm. He picked up wins in 3 of the first 4 rounds, with his only loss coming at the hands of an aggro Amber/Emerald deck centered around multiple versions of Lady and Tramp. From there, he had an easy final round, drawing into the Top 8.
Once in the Top 8, Patrick couldn’t be stopped. He rolled through Steelsong in the Quarters followed up by taking Game 3 against a Sapphire/Amethyst deck in the Semifinals. In the end, nothing could stop his Emerald/Amber deck from claiming victory over the rest of the field and winning the entire tournament.
