Friday is the official release day of the next Premium Booster set for the One Piece Trading Card Game! With 18 new cards and long-awaited reprints, Premium Booster 2 [The Best Vol 2 (PRB02)] is an exciting set for One Piece. As both a collector and player, I’ve broken down my top 3 new cards and the top 3 cards I’m excited to see reprinted.

Top 3 New Cards:

Gecko Moria (PRB02-013)

When Gecko Moria (OP06-086) was banned, Perona (OP06-021) decks took a big hit. But the new Gecko Moria card gives me hope that Perona can be a viable Leader. Moria lets the player play up to 1 character with a cost of 4 or less from their trash rested— similar to the original Moria’s ability, if not quite as powerful. However, Moria can still bring Perona deck staples (such as Ryuna (OP06-036) and Donquixote Rosinante (OP05-030)) back to the field.

Donquixote Doflamingo (PRB02-011)

Another card I believe will revitalize older leaders – Doflamingo allows players with multicolored Leaders to add 1 DON!! card [presumably to your Leader, but official translations are not out yet] rested. This card would go well in decks running other cards with the “Donquixote Pirates” and/or “Seven Warlords” typing (i.e., Donquixote Doflamingo (OP04-019), and Donquixote Rosinante (OP12-061).

Shiryu (PRB02-015)

I’m not immune to playing a deck designed to keep my opponent from playing, which is half the strategy of Marshall D. Teach (OP09-081). The new Shiryu skirts the limitation of Teach negating your own on-play effects, having an ability based on your leader’s type, and another on K.O.

Top 3 Reprints

Mr. 2 Bon Kurei (Bentham) (EB01-061)

Mr. 2 was only printed in the first Extra Booster (The Memorial Collection), so it’s expensive. And when almost every deck running the card (including Pudding (OP08-058) and Monkey D. Luffy (OP11-040) requires 3-4 copies for full value, a reprint that drives down the price makes it much more accessible to players. This card is my most anticipated reprint of the set.

Uso-Hachi (ST18-001)

Before PRB02, there were only two printings of Uso-Hachi: starter deck 18 and the extremely pricey alt art from Royal Blood. And with how much of a cornerstone this card is in popular purple decks such as Lim (OP09-022) and Monkey D. Luffy (EB02-010), this card was in dire need of a reprint.

Tashigi (OP10-032)

This card is a staple for green decks, including Zoro (OP12-020) and Bonney (OP07-019). Having multiple playsets is the way to go, in my opinion.
