The leaves are starting to turn golden and the first chill of the season is approaching, and what better way to get cozy than with a board game and a warm blanket! Here are some of my favorite cozy board games, as a cozy board game addict.

Everdell
You can’t start an article on cozy board games without mentioning Everdell. Everything about this game is awesome, from the cozy art style to the little tactile resources. You place workers to get resources and build your own city of the cutest little villagers, and as seasons pass you unlock bonus resources! If you have already delved deeper into board games like Catan, this is a perfect next step. It is one of those board games that’s easy to learn but still has so much depth and strategy to play around with.

Wilmot’s Warehouse
Wilmot’s Warehouse is a great game to play with the younger people in your life, it’s a memory game primarily, but the design and the color scheme makes it feel like a walk through crunchy leaves with a scarf blowing behind you. You play as a worker in the warehouse, and leave clues to remember where you left each tile to fulfill customer orders. This game is perfect for people new to board games, who still want something pretty to break out at gatherings.

Fit to Print
Fit to Print is one of those games I saw at GenCon a few years ago and knew I had to have right away. It’s a cozy game where the objective is to build the best woodland newspaper. It has many different game modes, including single player, and you choose a character to play as with unique bonuses.
There are two phases of play, collecting and layout. In the collecting phase you gather all the articles, photos, and ads you need for your newspaper, but be careful because leaving too much space or having leftover articles will deduct points! In the layout phase you arrange your collected tiles into the perfect newspaper, but if you have imbalanced articles you take a penalty as well. This game is awesome because you can play the high stakes timed version in the rules, or be more lax on the timer to play with kids. It is really one of our cutest games on the shelf.

Ride the Rails
We all know people who love train games above all, but this one has allure outside the trains, I promise! Ride the Rails is the second game of the series, based on the United States! Your goal is to take stocks in train companies as they unlock and place trains to send passengers to as many cities as possible. But be careful because using train lines other people have too much stock in can give them more money than you! You win by being the richest railroad tycoon by the end of the game. Ride the Rails is a lot of fun to play, and the art style and color palette is incredible.

Choose your own Adventure: House of Danger
We’re getting a little spooky now, but Choose your own Adventure: House of Danger is going to be great for any upcoming Halloween Parties or just any board game night with the horror enjoyers in your life. This game once again has beautiful art and design, calling to mind the classic books, but unlike some of the others on this list, you can play with any number of people! You will make choices that change your psychic level and danger meter to go on a unique adventure and try to escape the house of danger! If you love horror movies, or the original Choose your own Adventure books, definitely check this game out.

I hope one of these games gets you inspired to have a cozy night in with friends this season, or to come into Owl Central Games for our Monday board game open play! We have a couple of these in our board game library to play as well, so check them out before you buy.
